Tara Vaughan is a bonafide superstar. Her soulful vocals and piano techniques are reminiscent of a bygone era, but still have a unique and modern sensibility. In her vocal style, you can hear echoes and influence of legends like Patsy Cline and Sam Cooke. Her abilities on the piano are strongly influenced by rock icons like Carole King and Elton John. A couple of seasons ago, you would have heard her vocals and piano playing skills during Bill McGuigan’s Rave On! The Buddy Holly Experience.
SHE ROCKS is Tara Vaughan’s love letter to the women who made music history. Tara’s handcrafted set list celebrates the classic women rock ‘n’ rollers, the singer/songwriters who are soft and badass and loving, sexy and vulnerable and independent and LOUD. Tara is a performer who immediately draws you in with her humor and playful conversation and then hits you with a voice that sounds like “honey and whiskey…sweet but with a bite that leaves you breathless”.
Tara Vaughan graduated from Tufts University, she is a singer-songwriter who has independently release 3 albums, the most recent of which, Dandelion Wine, was nominated for several Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards. Tara’s extensive touring history has lead her to open for such artists as Lifehouse, Ben Kweller and James McCartney to name a few. Most recently, Tara has been touring internationally with Billy McGuigan’s: Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience, Rave On! The Buddy Holly Experience and Pop Rock Orchestra.
“Tara Vaughan is the Carole King of this decade.” – Christine Swerczek, BroadwayWorld.com
“Tara Vaughan does not play music…she exudes its. It’s as if the notes just come from the very depths of her soul and she then shares it with the audience with every fiber of her being and her incredible alto voice.” – Chris Elston, Chris’ Corner
“One of the most fascinating things about her is that she is insanely charming, but when you hear her perform, it’s her phenomenal voice and soulful songs that transform her from playful conversationalist to star-quality musician.” – Wayne Brekke, The Reader
