With an unusual blend of stand-up, improvisation, and twisted visual magic, Chipper Lowell has twice been awarded “Comedy Magician of the Year!” He was also named as one of the “Top Funniest Magicians” performing today by Magic Magazine, and received “Specialty Act of the Year!” from the Tahoe Daily Tribune. Whoop-de-doo
His childhood could be considered pretty normal, if normal was traveling around the world on various circuses and arena shows with his parents. His mother performed as a dancer and aerialist, while his father was a professional clown, touring “on the road” with shows like Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, and Disney On Parade. At around age 16, Chipper discovered he enjoyed poking fun at all the variety arts that surrounded him, and he soon developed his own style of mixing comedy into his original magic routines. Audiences seemed to love it, but some relatives were not amused and he was promptly removed from their wills.
He has performed all over the world, including the United States, Mexico, England, Canada, Nassau, Aruba, Malaysia, Dubai, Australia, and New Zealand. His one-man show, “The Chipper Lowell Experience!” ran for a record-breaking 600 performances in Lake Tahoe, where he was named one of the “Top Three Live Stage Comedians” for 2006 by the Sacramento Bee, alongside Lewis Black and Lily Tomlin. He has also been nominated twice for “Stage Magician of the Year!” by the Academy of Magical Arts/The Magic Castle. He continues to tour performing arts centers and casino showrooms with his critically acclaimed solo show, “The Chipper Experience! – Where COMEDY & MAGIC Collide!”, and most recently he is touring the U.S. and England with the Osmond Brothers in an all-new stage production called “Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams”.
His television appearances include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, General Hospital, The Disney Channel, The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, three seasons of Masters Of Illusion, Show Me The Funny!, Empty Nest, Don’t Blink!, and America’s Funniest People! When not performing, he lives in southern California with his wife, his son, and a mortgage…But not in that order. : )
