Harmonious Wail

It is not too soon to plan ahead for “Harmonious Wail” appearing in concert at your McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center in Wautoma on Saturday, October 16th at a special matinee time of 2:00 pm. The jazz and gypsy swing sounds of this incredibly talented band are being sponsored by Moose Inn Supper Club, Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative, ACE Hardware, and the law firm of Kubasta, Rathjen, Bickford, and Lorenson.

Harmonious Wail features smoldering voices laced among the jazzy mandolin and guitar, an infectious blend of jazz, swing, gypsy music and melodic vocals. You may want to come early to take in “HarvestFest” activities on the grounds, and then take advantage of our special “Moosetoberfest” dinner package available after the show through our box office.

Many people have asked how we go about selecting shows for your PAC – the answer is not simple! I just returned from four days at the Midwest Arts Conference in Indianapolis where I was able to preview almost 50 shows and talk with over 300 agents representing over 4000 acts in preparation for programming your 2011-12 season. Combining that experience with reviewing performer websites, attending live performances throughout the year, consulting with other presenters in Wisconsin, listening to patron requests and recommendations, and looking for opportunities for artists to do educational outreach, about 30 potential acts are presented to our Board of Directors Programming Committee for their consideration. The Committee narrows the choices to about 15 with the intent of providing a diverse, quality line-up for the next season. From that point negotiations with agencies begin with the end result being influenced by routing of performers, dates available, maintaining variety, and being able to secure the lowest fees possible in order to provide you with great live entertainment at an affordable price. (That was actually the “simple” answer – even more is involved!).

A note to area patrons: several of our upcoming shows are selling quickly, so you may want to reserve seats early to avoid disappointment! Our box office will be open Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 2:00 pm beginning October 4th, and from 11:00 am until show time on the 16th, or leave a message to order tickets at any time by calling (920) 787-2189, or toll-free (888) 987-2189. Our volunteers will respond to fill your requests. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Group and student discounts are available.
